St. Mary Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows
St. Mary Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows Roman Catholic Church is in downtown Kitchener. It was established in 1857 and more of its history is found on the church’s website.
Steve’s T.V.

Steve’s (T.V.), located a Frederick Street Plaza, has been around for about 50 years. It’s one of my favorite movie stores to go to, simply because I can find a bit more variety of films there. An ideal place to check out and explore for the hardcore movie or T.V. geek.
Here’s a question for you readers – what are your favorite kind of movies to rent at the movie store? Do you go for the new releases? Something weird and different? The classics? Or do you go to the internet and rent your movies there?
Happy Saturday, and today is also Ruth’s birthday! Don’t party too hard now…
El Mercadito
Last Saturday, Ruth and I tried out a new restaurant/cafe in Guelph called El Mercadito. Finding the place on 6A-650 Woodlawn Road West was a bit tricky, but we found it, right across the road from the mall and Galaxy movie theatre.
Not sure what to have, we decided to order a bunch of stuff from the menu and split them between ourselves. The only dish not pictured above was our main course (by the time I realized that I had forgotten to take a picture of it, it was more than half gone, and not so presentable anymore. Fail!). Everything was delicious, and the service was excellent. If you love real authentic latino food, I highly recommend El Mercadito**.
**Note: Last I checked, the links on their website weren’t working, but the page in question has more of their food featured.
UPDATE: April 10, 2011- I went by here today and it appears that the restaurant is closed, at least at this location.
McLennan Dog Park
The leash-free dog park at McLennan Park is very popular and is frequented by people who live within walking distance as well as others who drive and park in the lot at the bottom of the tobogganing hill. The fenced in dog park is a short walk along the base of Mount Trashmore to the bike path which runs along the hydro right of way. This family, including a well bundled baby and dog, was headed toward the leash-free area.
