Dandelions

Hydro right-of-way beside Trillium Public School in Kitchener

Do you love or hate this picture? Dandelions have spread wildly since our bylaw forbidding the use of lawn pesticides was introduced. Many homeowners have given up trying to keep a weed-free lawn while others bring home pesticides from United States and apply it under cover of night.

Alpine Road Fair

The annual fair at Alpine Road and Ottawa Street South is set up again for this weekend. Hopefully the weather will improve, but children always enjoy the rides even when it is windy and cold. (map)

Winter’s Last Gasp

I looked back at photos taken in March 2010 and there was still a lot of snow on the ground on this date. Spring came quickly and stayed by the end of the month. This March has had less sunshine and maybe that is what makes this winter feel interminable. But spring is coming…
