2011 Kitchener Rangers Awards Banquet

Gabriel Landeskog, Tyler Randell, Evan McEneny, Tobias Rieder

The regular Ontario Hockey League season has come to an end and playoffs start this week. The Kitchener Rangers Awards Banquet was held last evening at Bingemans and my husband, who is an avid fan, took these pictures. I cannot name the players, and even my husband had some difficulty identifying a few of these young men in suits, minus their helmets and numbers. I will edit the post as names come forward.

Gabriel Landeskog and Tom Embro. Tom helps organize fan buses for out-of-town games.

Kitchener plays Plymouth at the Auditorium this Friday night in the first game of their playoff series.

The Westmount Long Term Care Residence

Retirement residence under construction

The Westmount Long Term Care Facility opened in 2002. Located at 200 David Bergey Drive in Kitchener, it is one of the newer nursing homes in the region. A new retirement home is under construction next to the current long term care building. It is next to the Laurentian Wetland which has been featured in several post on this site. (map)

Lions Arena

Lions Arena- 20 Rittenhouse Road, Kitchener ON

This is one of my favourite places to go skating in the region. Lions Arena offers public skating, figure skating and ice skating lessons, hockey and pick-up hockey. Their schedule is in the current Leisure Magazine.

Longer Term Mental Health Unit at Freeport Health Centre

Friday October 29, 2010 marked the opening of the new mental health unit at Freeport Health Centre which is part of Grand River Hospital. The new wing is bright and spacious and patients will start to arrive next week. Staff and visitors took tours throughout the day. The photographs on the walls were taken locally by people with mental health issues. They were very poignant and artistically composed. Here is a highly cropped closeup of the photograph on the pillar in the first picture.
