Line 86 is the main road on the right side of the picture. This section of it is also known as the Guelph-Elmira highway. It you are heading north-west from Guelph to Elmira, turn left at Katherine Street and then make a quick right turn to River Edge Drive. This takes you into the hamlet of West Montrose. (map)

Martins Family Fruit Farm retail store still has lots of local produce for sale at competitive prices.
It was a perfect early spring day for the annual Elmira Maple Syrup Festival. We arrived well before 9 AM and Arthur Street was already jammed with pedestrians. It was the busiest I have seen it in a few years and when we returned to Kitchener, the traffic was backed up all the way to Waterloo on the expressway. There is a good variety of street food for sale besides pancakes and maple syrup.
At the Crossroads is located at the south end of Elmira. This popular country style buffet also offers breakfast, lunch and dinner options from a menu . The Mercantile has a large selection of items for sale including home and garden decor, giftware, cards and an attractive quilting shop.

The January thaw and rainfall created swollen creeks and rivers in Waterloo Region.
Three Bridges Road just outside the village of St. Jacobs was closed due to rising water on the Conestoga River.
The buggy bridge was under water and drivers who came this far in spite of the signs had no choice but to make a U-turn and take another route to Hawkesville Road.
