Kitchener Fire Department Headquarters

270 Strasburg Road, Kitchener

Taken from the parking lot beside Zehrs at Laurentian Power Centre, this picture shows the Kitchener Fire Department Headquarters building. It won first place in the City of Kitchener Urban Designs Awards in 2000 for its efficient and aesthetic structure and landscaping.

The bell tower is symbolic of historic fire halls in the region and an interesting ladder sculpture is located in front of the building.

I am posting the last of my photos which have snowbanks in view. The spring-like weather this week will hopefully melt most of them in a few days.

Water Rescue Drill on the Grand River

Kitchener Fire Department Drill at Schneider Park, Freeport

Emergency drills and training are often conducted by the police and fire departments on the grounds around Freeport Hospital and at Schneider Park. Tuesday was a lovely day and the Kitchener Fire Department was practicing water rescues. The Grand River is high now, but not nearly as high as it was the last two years during spring thaw.
